COMMUNITY
HEALING THE WARRIOR WAY THROUGH TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCES, ADVENTURE, AND BROTHERHOOD, WE AIM TO EMPOWER VETERANS TO RECONNECT WITH THEIR WARRIOR SPIRIT AND NAVIGATE THE CHALLENGES OF CIVILIAN LIFE WITH RESILIENCE AND HONOR.
ABOUT US
OUR STORY
Project Combat Leave was born from a simple truth: The mission may end, but the warrior doesn’t. Too many combat veterans return home to a world that feels small, slow, and disconnected from the intensity of service. Traditional treatment often asks them to sit in rooms that don’t look or feel anything like the life they lived in uniform. The result is isolation, frustration, and a deep sense of being out of place in the country they swore to protect.
PCL flips that script. We take veterans out of the noise and back into nature with warriors that understand them. We combine adventure sports and recreational therapy with practical instruction in K9 handling, obedience, and control, alongside modern health and wellness treatments, set in the pristine and natural environment of Costa Rica.
PCL was built by and for warriors. Our programs are designed so veterans can push themselves, laugh again, share stories that don’t need explaining, and see that there is still a mission ahead worth fighting for.
OUR CORE VALUES
01
CAMARADERIE
Warriors heal best together. Every retreat is built around small teams, shared effort, and honest conversation.
02
INTEGRITY
We honor the trust veterans and donors place in us with transparent operations, clear communication, and disciplined stewardship of every dollar.
03
SERVICES
Service didn’t end when the uniform came off. PCL exists to serve those who served and to train warriors to serve again in new ways; families, communities, and each other.
04
Healing
Healing is work. We lean into challenge, physical, mental, and emotional, so veterans can build real tools for life after service.
05
NATURE
From jungle trails to Pacific surf, nature is our therapy room. We use Costa Rica’s landscapes as a living Classroom for resilience and reconnection.
06
K9 COMPANIONSHIP
Working alongside a K9 partner demands patience, leadership, and trust. Our K9 Warrior Training program gives veterans a powerful way to reconnect with their warrior identity and channel it Into a new mission.
WHO WE SERVE
PCL serves combat veterans who have faced the intensity of service and are now navigating the transition to civilian life. They seek a community where they can heal in an environment that honors their warrior identity.
TESTIMONIALS FROM THOSE WE SERVE
“The team doesn’t baby you. It’s veteran-run, and they get it. You’re around guys who’ve been through it, so you don’t have to explain yourself. You show up and get after it”
– DETROY, USMC
“The K9 work hit me harder than I expected. Working with dogs forces you to be present, calm, and focused. It works.”
– MATT, ARMY
“It was the best leave I have ever taken. Thanks PCL!”
JOHN, USMC
